Atlanta is also the defacto cultural capitol of
Africa America adding to its integration as an important destination city for investment interests and more diverse cultural

The Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (UMFF) are always seeking conscious,
positive independent films that entertain, and invoke
thought and
action on issues that affect people of color -- shorts, features,
documentaries, music/poetry videos,
and screenplays.
Blending filmmaking and activism, the Urban Mediamakers recognize
media as a powerful tool of
choice for making positive change in
media and society.
For Example:
"The Movement in Progress through Independent
Filmmaking" is the theme of UMFF 2008, took place during October
17-19,
2008 in metro Atlanta, Georgia. featuring independent film
screenings, open
night reception and screening, workshops, panels, and follwed by the UMFF 2008 Awards Presentations and "Water Runs
Deep" Concert

for their efforts in making Atlanta, Georgia a cultural hub.
